Joppa Overnight Run

Begin your trip at Joppa Wharf in West Denton, where the elegant steamboat 'Joppa' picked up passengers for the overnight run to Baltimore at the turn of the century.

Before launching at the shipways and soft landing, explore the restored skipjack F. C. Lewis and see how the vessel's crew worked, ate, and slept aboard.

Paddle downriver 1.9 miles to the boat ramp and campgrounds at Martinak Park.  Stay one or more nights and explore Watts Creek and the state park before returning to Joppa Wharf.

This is a great trip for families with younger paddlers. It packs all the adventure of a sailor’s life, campfire and marshmallows, and a night in the forest -- into a distance of less than four miles round trip!
