The Upper Choptank River is served by a variety of public landings maintained by Caroline County.
Most are on the east bank. Joppa Wharf at West Denton is the only west bank access for a distance of 16 miles between Kingston Landing and Greensboro.
Landings at Martinak State Park, Denton (Crouse Park), and Greensboro all have well-maintained, paved ramps and plenty of paved parking.
The public access at Two Johns and Christian Park (Red Bridges) are both undeveloped but provide adequate soft landings for paddle craft.
The landing at Joppa Wharf is unique. Under way in early 2002, the reconstruction of the 1880s steamboat wharf will include shipways that will also serve as a soft landing and ramp for small craft.
