There are 28 public landings on the river and its tributaries in Caroline, Talbot, and Queen Anne counties in Maryland, and in Kent County, Delaware on the extreme upper reaches of the Choptank. 

Public landing usage is free, except in Talbot County, which charges a modest ramp fee.
