Download RiverGuide GIS Map Layers

4. If you are not using a RiverGuide CD-ROM, download the RiverGuide GIS  layers  file (rg-gis-layers.zip) from the Old Harford Town Maritime Center (OHTMC) web site
------- here ------
This is a 2MB download.

5. Unzip the file using software such as WinZip. Place the extracted (unzipped) files in a folder on your computer.

6. The extracted files include:

  • The project file called RiverGuide-GIS-Lite.AEP, and

  • RiverGuide Map Layers in a folder called “Layers”.
  • Be sure that the project file and the Map Layers folder reside in the same folder on your computer.

    7. If you are using the RiverGuide GIS on CD-ROM, go here for map layers. You do not have to download them from the OHTMC Web Site.  You can open the RiverGuide-GIS-Lite.AEP project file on the CD.  Or you can copy the project and Map Layer files to your computer by following the instructions in Step 6.

    8. If you have a fast Internet connection (or time and patience), you can download additional topographic map and other image files from the OHTMC web site
    -------- here -------.
This is a large 22MB download. It provides USGS topo maps that appear when you zoom in below 1:24,000 scale. Download and unzip the “Images” folder and its contents and place “Images” folder in the same folder ”next to” the “Layers” folder.

(If you are using the RiverGuide GIS on CD-ROM, go here for topo map and other images files.)

(Contact Old Harford Town Maritime Center to obtain a RiverGuide CD-ROM.)
